Soft Tissue Procedures

Many people first encounter a foot health practitioner (FHP) either when they are in pain or their feet have become infected or their nails have become diseased. The role of an FHP is to diagnose, assess and treat foot, ankle and lower limb disorders both reactively and proactively.

Our Kensington clinic is situated within Altimus (a high-end professional sports shop), so we are well versed in dealing with sports injuries and injury risk reduction. Indeed, many of the soft tissue maladies we treat are rooted in a biomechanical / postural dysfunction which can be helped not only with soft tissue procedures but by the judicious use of prescribed orthotics or braces.

Treatments

Nail Treatment for example ingrown toenails. Our inhouse surgeon uses a technique where the offending spur can be removed extremely quickly without the need for an anaesthetic.

Skin infections/lesions;  A biopsy can be taken and the infection can be assessed and treated or treatment for simple infections like tinea pedis (athlete’s foot) can be carried out on the same day.

Verruca management: Like other pathogens, these virus’s need management to reduce further infection. We have chemical, cryogenic, or immuno response methods to help us win this fight.

Corn and callus removal: the parring and enucleating of hard skin can help reduce the amount of pain experienced whist walking.

Posture: related issues such as plantar fascial pain, shin splints, knee, hip and lower back pain, even shoulder misalignment and migraines.

Nail reconstruction: although largely cosmetic we can repair the nail after the ravages of fungal infections, onychauxis (nail thickening), Discolouration, Psoriasis, Koilonychia (spoon nails) or Beau Lines.

Diabetic Nail and foot management; we are actively involved in the regular care of diabetic patients where it important to minimise deep heel fissures and dress any wounds or lesions.

FREE Health Checks

Foot health checks not only allow us to check for infection, but allow us to identify structural problems to the ankles, knees and hip caused by poorly fitting shoes.  Once identified we are able to recommend the correct footwear available from stock at Altimus.  In recognition of the importance of regular foot maintenance, Altimus subsidise all assessments carried out in our clinics at their stores allowing is to carry out assessments for FREE.
